What is subcontracting in Twind
If you participate in a contract as a contractor company, Twind allows you to subcontract part of the work to other companies, as long as your main client has enabled it. Each subcontract creates a new level in the CAE coordination chain, and every company in that chain must manage its own documentation and resources on the platform.
How subcontracting levels are organised
Twind visually represents the subcontracting chain with level badges in the contracts list:
C — Main contract between the client and the main contractor.
S1 — First-level subcontract, hired by the main contractor.
S2 — Second-level subcontract, hired by an S1 provider. Higher levels are shown as S3, S4, etc.

ℹ️ Please note: each contract has a maximum subcontracting level defined by the main client. If you need to extend that limit (for example, so that your subcontractor can in turn add another), contact your client so they can adjust it from their settings.
When you can subcontract
To be able to create subcontracts, the contract must have subcontracting enabled by the main client. You can check this in the contract details, in the "Allow subcontracting?" field. If it shows No, contact your client to request it.
ℹ️ Please note: if you do not have subcontracting enabled or the required permissions, this option will be disabled.
What you can do from subcontract management
Once subcontracting is enabled, from Twind you can:
Create subcontracts by selecting the tree node from which you want to create them, and assigning worksites and activities.
Invite a new company directly from the creation form, even if they are not yet registered in Twind. You only need their name, tax ID, country, email address and language.
Edit existing subcontracts: modify the contractor, dates, worksites and activities, even if resources have already been assigned.
Assign resources (workers, vehicles, machinery and products) to each level of the chain.

What happens after creating the subcontract
If the contract does not require approval, the subcontract will become active immediately and the subcontracted company will be able to access the platform to manage their documentation and workers.
If the main client requires prior approval, the subcontract will appear in the tree with "Pending approval" status until the client confirms it. The process for you is the same in both cases.
When creation is complete, you will receive a notification with a direct link to the new subcontract to verify its position in the tree.
